Voyage is a text-only game I made during January 2013 as part of the #onegameamonth challenge. The challenge encourages game developers to release a new game every month for the whole year, and to use that pace as motivation to try new ideas, expand and develop their skills, and share their creations with others. Making a text game is probably not something I would have been able to find the motivation to do without #onegameamonth, I’m glad I was able to spend some time giving it a shot. Voyage was created in Twine and consists of over 18,000 words. I’ve never made a text game before, but I thought it might be fun to try, since it is so drastically different from the 3D work I usually do. There are a lot of things I’ve learned from doing this project that I’ll be able to apply to my future games, whether they be 3D, 2D, or text.
